STUDENTS SHOULD WEAR HONOR CORDS
Many of our students have worked extremely hard to earn honors they have achieved from their academic success at MGM. The Mission of MGM is "We maintain our commitment to excellence by providing an atmosphere conducive to learning in a safe, supportive environment whereby students and school staff are empowered to achieve the ideals of scholarship and leadership." But the following statement from the Senior Class Dress Code Policy states "On graduation day, students may only wear cords given by our National Honor Society. No stole, cord, or tassel from any other organization is allowed during the graduation ceremony." This reflects an invalidation of our children's achievements and ultimately reduces the impact of their accomplishments. Our children should be allowed to celebrate their accomplishments with the cords they earned at commencement. (Your child does not have to be a senior for you to sign the petition, only a student at MGM)
